I noticed we don't have a thread for this guy yet. So, what do you all think of our beloved Paladin?

Most people seem to assume he's an idiot (so do I), but I wonder if he's really that incompetent. Sure, he sucks at understanding sarcasm and insults, and he's a little too much in love with his own image. But he didn't hesitate to evacute and call in Mephisto (even though he clearly hated having to depend on him) when they found themselves faced with the Gehenna gate, and he hasn't actively pushed for Rin's execution yet despite his dislike for the boy. It appears that for all his personal issues, he at least knows to behave professionally when it counts, and that's something I can respect.

That being said, he really doesn't like demons. I wonder if he and Rin will ever learn to get along somewhat... I for one would like it if they developed some kind of respect for one another. Keeping Athur as the eternal Knight Templar would make him incredibly boring, and if he's getting a bigger role, I want him to have some kind of development too.

I like Arthur. I am seeing him as turning into The Ace/Rival. Possibly the Lancer after Yukio does his face Heel Turn. I don't know what he was like during the anime, but I see him being a real interesting player in the future.

^ I can't ever see Arthur becoming second (the Lancer) after Rin. Rival, maybe; sidekick, no way. If they ever work together (which I hope), I think Arthur will still be the one giving the orders.

But I'm kinda puzzled why everyone is expecting Yukio to do a Face Heel Turn... it's not impossible, but I wouldn't take it as a given just yet.

I'm not expecting a Face Heel Turn, but I've been jaded by some other stories in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. I'm hoping that the worst that happens is that he get's kidnapped for one of two reasons I have already mentioned in a previous post.

I'm surprised Blightstrider hasn't posted here yet. I thought he was our biggest Angel fan.

I would like to see Angel and Rin interact again. They haven't met since the first trial, so it should be deliciously awkward at first. I just hope we'll get some actual development out of it, and not just Angel insisting that demons are always wrong no matter what.

Alright, so in one of HeavenlyArcher's dreams, Arthur... saves Rin from being executed. And turns out to hate Mephisto and distrust his plans more than he hates Rin. The rest was just good acting and pretending to be stupid. The discussion was getting rather long, so we thought we'd move it here.

Arthur is in 30 years old and Lighting is 34.

That means Arthur was in his teens when the Blue Night happened and Lighting was in his twenties.

Now, I think Lighting was Arthur's teacher.

If Yuri is Lighting's long lost love, then my theory of her being a teen when she gave birth is dead.

Or maybe she was a teen like Arthur and they were friends and that's why Arthur dislikes Rin, because he sees him as a cause for her death.

Or maybe the reason LightingxYuri was forbidden was the age difference?

Yes except there's no "but we're the same age!" excuse. And they actually do things and get caught.

You can also say Yuri's parents are very very religious types (no sex before marriage!) and punish her horribly. <- That's my personal theory as to why Rin&Yukio weren't just aborted. Yes I went there, but it makes sense.

Isn't the age difference between Light and Arthur/Yuri too small to have a teacher-student relationship?

and I'm gonna laugh so hard if the manga makes Arthur and/or Lightning knew Yuri for real!xD

I would like that, actually. It would give his dislike for Rin an extra layer if he knew Yuri and blames Rin for her death.

But they could have been in the same class or something (wait, how old is Angel again? Does this work?).
