What Satan says in the first chapter is basically:
Let's go to Gehenna.
Will have to destroy that thing [Kanji: sword] to free you from this seal/curse.
Regain your power [Kanji: true nature] as a demon.
I'm a perfect entity who reigns_over/controls/dominates/unifies all powers/forces/authorities.
But even someone sush as me, have one little flaw/downside. Do you get what that is?
That is, here, in Assiah, there is no equivalent matter.
The matter affected by me immediately breaks.
I want Assiah.
You exist in Assiah while being a god of gehenna; while drawing my blood [Kanji: flames]. ["drawing blood" means "inheriting from"/"being the descendant of"]
In order for me to obtain Assiah, you are indispensable.
Today you will be reborn.
In other words:
I want to exist in Assiah but everything I possess burns.
That's why I need you. You can exist in Assiha and you are powerful enough to resist my flames.
So let's go to gehenna and make you regain your demon power/nature so I can possess you and go to Assiah.
or
I want to rule over Assiah but everything I possess burns.
That's why I need you. You can exist in Assiha and you are powerful enough to rule it.
So let's go to gehenna and make you regain your demon power/nature so I can make you my representative and send you back to Assiah.
With the first interpretation, we don't know what Satan needs to do to possess Rin and what he's waiting for.
But there's one major flaw with the second interpretation. If Satan can't exist in Assiah, what forces Rin to listen to him? It can end up like Mephisto. This plan as so many chances to backfire, I wouldn't call that a master plan.
My gut instinct tells me that Satan is too much of a narcissist to even consider that Rin and Mephisto wouldn't listen to him. And Lucifer is going to give him a body anyway, I don't know why he needs Rin now. I assume it's not that hard for him to possess something. The only exception is if Rin's half-demon status makes it hard somehow.
The matter of Satan's master plan: you may remember that I am the supporter of the second interpretion. Rin is strong emotionally but I think that he hasn't been always so, especially before his awakening. So why haven't Satan tried even once possess Rin? I doubt demon's need to know exact location of their hosts to possess them/try to speak to them directly. And I agree with Tar that what we saw on chapter 1 Satan is extremely narcistic and doesn't care what hos sons are doing as long as they doesn't stand in his way. And Illuminati and its research are old, (maybe even research is older than the twins) so I want to think that Lucifer has been planning it quite A while. So Satan don't need body from Rin - Lucifer also told to return Rin to Mephisto. And why they would need elixir because even Satan created Rin on his boredom, Rin is capable of holding his Father's flames and they wouldn't need to continue the Illuminati project. So Rin has another use for Satan.
If we support the possession theory, Rin's possession could be harder like Tar commented. Usually human soul and consciouness doesn't leave the body when possessed, they are connected (if I take this aspect of the Bible). So if Rin is partly human, could his human soul be connected like that and as his soul is demon soul, two demons can't possess the same body? Or if it they aren't connected like that, it is still hard to exorcise Rin out of his own body to be able to possess him...?
(Or Rin needs to be inside to ne able to possess, otherwise it would be A corpse... Okay this thought gives me creeps I won't go deeper)
^ I hope that's not true. I like the idea that Shiro is the kind of guy who would save the kids because he sees it as the right thing to do, and not just because they're his.
I agree. Characters with selfless love/righteous are "romantic" and A priest character who follows the word of God.
Another one from Nee;I'm pretty sure the Order has their own specialists...
Though I still don't understand why they didn't bother to give Rin a quick check-up first. You know, just to make sure that your walking flamethrower isn't also a sadistic psycho.
---
Well, I think the answer lied in the fact that majority of the Exorcist order are against-demons, anything demonic etc and only A handful see it possible to work with them/not so bad. So Grigori, Paladin etc wing who has power had already condemned Rin as A demon (well, he has demon soul and heart after all) and because demon's nature is "evil, seeking pleasure" etc it would be pointless to make check-up on him. They may think Rin ones them because he hasn't choice (to escape) but I find it funny that anyone seeing the court judgement would be crazy not to see that Rin was honest and human-like. If they don't suspect him acting. But nevertheless I would gave been alert of Mephisto, he is the one pulling the strings...
From TarNew theory: The Illuminati German Twins aren't actually twins, but clones. There are a bajillion of other Lunds and Stroms sleeping in the basement, ready to be awakened for the end days.

Oh my, hopefully not. Them our heroes would be doomed!
(I thought also that the names sound so much like Swedish, but they look like arjan to me also....)

(Not 100% sure this is the correct thread to post this... )
None of the Demon Kings we've seen seem to have Blue-flames. (That we know of...)
What if this is because; despite being "children" of Satan, they're not biologically his kids.
They're; in a lack of a better-word, adopted!
Satan: "You are powerful, become my son/daughter!"
---
Well I like the idea and it would be feodalic to take proteges. But I still somehow want to believe they are biological/created by Satan... Though I don't have answer why the flames can't be inherited so easily ;___;
