I must say that I have grown to like Angel more and more lately. Maybe because I can relate to him - and can't wait for his story! I have always thought of him as important character  to the series - and oh boy if they fight side by side with Rin <3 Like in anime. It was the only good thing of the anime ending. I really can see Arthur actually accept Rin in the future, if Rin doesn't go to the evil side.

Really appreciating the translations. I have this book, but my Japanese is so shoddy I can barely read any of it (and kanji is the bane of my existence). I actually got it so I'd have something in Japanese to help me study (and I won't lie, the few color pages are nice), but maybe I should have gone for something easier. ^^;

The exact same thing happened to me when I got the Death Note character book back in high school. Character books are so...dense.

Me: This'll be fun! I'll already know what everything's about so it shouldn't be too hard! : D
Book: *lists all of the Death Note rules in like 8-point font with no furigana*

(I did eventually read the whole thing though, and it taught me a lot, so I don't regret buying it anymore!)

Kuro

—Concept—

Kuro came about because I wanted to give Rin a familiar. I thought Rin would really feel like a shounen protagonist if I could show him riding a giant Kuro and letting Kuro ride on his head in his small form.

I originally designed Kuro as more of a cute fantasy creature, but a friend told me that I’d get more readers if there was a cat, and since I was hungry for readers at the time, I thought “Well, I’ll make him a black cat then!” and brought him closer to a normal cat design.

Looking at him now, he really is just a regular cat, isn’t he? (laughs) If I’d ever dreamed there would be an anime adaptation, I might have made a more colorful mascot character.

—Moving Forward—

There are tons of scenes I’d like to write for Kuro, but it’s hard to get into them when I’m so busy showing the human characters. Solving Kuro’s inner struggles doesn’t exactly move the main plot along! But I personally would enjoy it.

A lot of my own personal tastes came out in Kuro. I love drawing anthropomorphized talking animals, like the foxes Uke and Mike and Mephisto’s dog form. If I could get away with it, I would totally go on and on about a story starring Kuro! But I think only the most die-hard cat people would be happy about that…

so, I wrote on tumblr about it already, but I'm planning to scan the AoEx guidebook from cover-to-cover, might make having resources to find certain things easier I figure.

I know there are quite a few translations of things from it floating around (and I’ve read them) but just in case some other stuff that hasn’t been translated that might be important/someone found worth translating, and someone doesn't have access to it to translate it otherwise, I figure it’d be nice for me to help with that if I can.

not sure when I'll actually get around to doing this though, but I'll update once I do.

also because I'm scared of getting into trouble legally, when I do this the link will, unfortunately, have to be given privately ^^; (but I'll give it asap to anyone who needs it, otherwise there's no point in me doing this plus I'm not trying to be exclusive with the link, defeats the purpose of me doing this lol just scared of getting into trouble)
however, I don't care if you post stuff from it or whatnot once the link is given, because that has nothing to do with the link itself.

still find it unfortunate that I feel Viz is unlikely to ever do an official translation of the guidebook.
