Sometimes I wonder, if we'd try to make the song "sanninn no ojisan" work with Ryuuji, Renzou and Koneko, which one would be which ojisan?

(click to show/hide)

Not sure about Koneko, but I think the story works quite well with Bon, Rin and Shima. In that order.

Talking about Bump of Chicken, doesn't anyone think Holy Night from "K" is similar to Night from "The Miyama-Uguisu Mansion Incident".

Yeah, a little.

It's certainly a sad story.

Hun... Rin... I'll think about it...

Initially I thought,
Ryuuji as the clever man, because he invited the other two to go to true cross academy.
Koneko as the strong man, because he firmly swore to protect... Ryuuji at least.
Renzou as the quick man, because the joke of quick man is there's not much to say about him and he just goes along with things. xD
Even though it's wrong to say Ryuuji was calm while Koneko was furious when their "boat" broke...

But then, I looked at this passage,
The clever man swam towards the way they came from.
The strong man challenged the sea and dived deep.
The quick man held onto a broken piece of the boat.

And I thought, maybe,
The clever man will go back to the Myoudha.
The strong man will "challenge" their enemy.
The quick man will stay in the order.
Or something like that. x)
Though for now I'm not sure what to think about that...

Then, there's this passage where they say "The strong man defeated the sea and became an island".
"Island" in Japanese is "Shima". So there's more wondering.

Anyway, got to go.

Alan Parsons Project - Lucifer (Instrumental): This came up on Spotify a few days ago. It fits Lucy very well, with regal but ominous chords.

Rob Cantor - Shia LaBeouf (Comedy): First posted by Residential_Psycho regarding Toudou's unintentionally hilarious torment of Yukio. It's also just really funny. Watch the video. "Stab it in his kidneeeey"

Scar Symmetry - Fear Catalyst (Metal): Kinda sums up the Illuminati sales pitch, especially towards Yukio. "Sworn to fulfill duality / Victimized by your duty / Your awakening incomplete" and "You come alive and feel this way / Never will life betray you again".

Xandria - When the Mirror Cracks (Metal): THIS SONG IS YUKIO. All the lyrics just reek of him.

Quote
Took sense and madness as they come, this circus life has left me on my own
My expectations were my home, but when the mirror cracks there’s so much left undone
Who betrayed and who deceived?
Loss of what I once believed

Feel I’m in a dream, scary scenes rush before my eyes
Wake up in a scream, this is real, where’s my paradise?
Drowned by circumstance, innocence crushed under this load
Will it ever end, where’s my life?

Disastrous certainties once felt, my vast collection of a better time to tell
Knowing my worst enemy
Weak and helpless, is this me?

Feel I’m in a dream, scary scenes rush before my eyes
Wake up in a scream, this is real, where’s my paradise?
Drowned by circumstance, innocence crushed under this load
Will it ever end, where’s my life?

Late comprehension, a new dimension, a newborn child and its fragile world

Feel I’m in a dream, scary scenes rush before my eyes
Wake up in a scream, this is real, where’s my paradise?
Drowned by circumstance, innocence crushed under this load
Will it ever end, where’s my life?
"There are no answers. Only choices."

Numb by Linkin Park kind of seems like a dialogue between Rin and Yukio, where Rin is talking to Yukio. The lyrics that stood out to me the most are the ones bolded

I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless, lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow)

[Chorus:]
I've become so numb, I can't feel you there
Become so tired, so much more aware
I'm becoming this, all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

Can't you see that you're smothering me,
Holding too tightly, afraid to lose control?
'Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you.

(Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you.
(Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow)
And every second I waste is more than I can take.

(Chorus)

And I know
I may end up failing too.

But I know
You were just like me with someone disappointed in you.

(Chorus x2)

;) That's funny, because I also thought "Numb" would work well for Yukio and Toudo!

"Yes Your Highness"! Is it just me, or is this perfect for the Illuminati and Lucifer? A declaration of loyalty, but at the same time with a dark undertone, indicating the singer is pretty much a mind slave. http://youtu.be/c-ociycA48k

Yes your highness!
I will serve you till I die
I will be there when you need me
I will try
As you summon, by your command I will be your eyes
Ill forevermore give to you my sight

Yes your highness!
I will guard you with my life
I will stand still covering you
I will try
As I look right into your GEASS crimson eyes
I'm forevermore honored at your side

Wed never let you hide away
Wed never put you down like nothings less
Wed have the will to make it through
All the thoughts, all the hopes, with you

Cant we see the sun that shines for you?
Cant we measure sight now?
Cant we say the words depicting you?
Cant it be that simple?
Cant we show the world wed fight for you?
Cant we kill the distance?
Cant we shield it all, protecting you?
Cant we save you?

There's the world that you would crave for
When every single one recalls your name
Behind the mask your hide your face
So divine, so grand, so you

Cant we ask for one more day with you?
Cant we hear you breathing?
Cant we take your hands and fly with you?
Cant we die beside you?
Cant we see the world that smiled for you?
Cant we be your angels?
Cant we spend the final day with you?
Cant we save you?

Yes your highness I will serve you till I die

I always thought Numb was about a kid talking to it's parent.
So I'd say it's more like what Toudou would say to his father.
Or maybe what Yukio or Rin would say to Shirou. Though Yukio never disappointed Shirou and Shirou never put too much expectations on Rin, until he died. It might have come to this eventually if he was still alive.
That could also work for Renzou towards his father and older brothers. His brothers are fine because they were able to meet the expectations put on them, but he couldn't.

By the way, now it's been confirmed Renzou is a double spy, is there new opinions about that song.

Stabilo - Flawed Design sounds like Yukio for the first two verses and chorus. The third verse doesn't work for him... yet.

Quote
And I will turn off
And I will shut down
Burying the voices of my conscience hitting ground
And I will turn off
And I will shut down
The chemicals are restless in my head

Cause I lie
Not because I want to
But I seem to need to all the time (need to all the time)
Yeah I lie
And I don't even know it
Maybe this is all a part of my
Flawed design

By the way, now it's been confirmed Renzou is a double spy, is there new opinions about that song.

That song really is Renzou. It's non-committal but an apology. Goddammit, cannot handle my Shizumo feels...

I haven't entirely thought it through yet, but anyone think that parts of the lyrics to Carnivore by Starset might fit Yukio?

^Besides maybe that thing about the "beast" and "until I burn beyond control", the only thing that sounds like Yukio right now is "Never enough. Who I am is not good enough."
Though I have a hard time understanding what this song is about. "Carnivore" to me either literally means "someone who eats meat" or figuratively means "someone looking for sex partner(s)", so either way that sounds off there.

I just saw Katou posted this on her twitter a while ago.
I don't really follow the OST. So I don't know much about it.
She says that song was originally written to be Shiemi's theme, and when she writes Shiemi's character she often listen to it.

Though I couldn't help but see there's some mistakes. (I know because of the Japanese translation below...)
On the second line, it should be "far from the fight(s)" not "far from the flight".
On the third line, it should be "Everyone are way ahead of me, they're leaving me behind" instead of "They freely pass me by" (...I guess she meant to say "easily" instead of "freely").
On line 15, it should be "I'm fine, so..." instead of "I'm so fine".
On line 16, it should be "under the stormy sky" instead of "under the bad weather".
On line 18, it should be "on the riverside" or "by the river" instead of "on the river".
On line 19, it should be "please, stay by my side" instead of "so dwell on my self".
On line 20, it should be "for now and forever, no matter what happens" instead of "all the time".

^ Huh, yeah. Call me later definitely  makes more sense with those corrections. It really works at Shiemi's theme.

"In the Presence of Enemies, Pt. 1": The opening verse reminds me of Lucy's convo with Yukio.

Quote
I saw a white light
Shining there before me
And walking to it
I waited for the end
A final vision
Promising salvation
A resurrection
For a fallen man

Do you still wait for your God
And the symbol of your faith?
I can free you from this Hell and misery
You should never be ashamed my son
I can give you power beyond anything
Trust me you will be the chosen one

So thanks to Lightning suddenly climbing almost to the top of my favorite character list, I am now full of songs that kind of remind me of Lightning.

Party in the C.I.A. by Weird Al. Kind of...Kind of eerie how well an upbeat song about torture and political intrigue (parody of Party in the USA) fits him...

This song from the Mary Poppins parody episode of the Simpsons.

Nashville, Tennessee by Frank Turner reminds me of him talking about his backstory (or lack thereof), if you pretend it was about exorcism instead of music. And also if you changed all of the place names. All of them.

I love Weird Al!

That killed me. It is so Lightning. Down to "it's the American waaaaay!"

--

Ran across this freakin weird song a few days ago. Creepy Illuminati vibes. (The "you are so precious" lines freak me out but remind me of how Lucy treats his personnel.)

Pendulum - The Other Side

Lyrics:

Quote
Come on down to the other side
Come with us through the gates of hell
We will drag you from where you are
To where you belong

Come on down to the other side
Come with us through the gates of hell
We will drag you from where you are
To where you belong

There's nothing... To fear
Your saviours... Are here
This ship is coming down
This ship is coming down
This ship is coming down

Coming down coming down

You... You are so precious
A diamond in the rough
And when you try to escape
I'll be holding on

But I can't sleep until this is done
They're in my head they're in my soul

Come on down to the other side
Come with us through the gates of hell
We will drag you from where you are
To where you belong

Come on down to the other side
Come with us through the gates of hell
We will drag you from where you are
To where you belong

We... are in your spirit
We're everywhere you turn
From the cover to the cover
The cover to the cover
Your lover (Be your brother)
To your mother (The others)

You... you are so precious
But now you've gone away
And I am falling apart
Under the waves

But I can't sleep until this is done
They're in my head they're in my soul

Through the gates of hell
We know you

This ship is coming down
This ship is coming down
Coming down...
Coming down...
Coming down...
Coming down...
Coming down...
Coming down...
Coming down...

...Down to the other side
Come with us through the gates of hell
We will drag you from where you are
To where you belong

Come on down to the other side
Come with us through the gates of hell
We will drag you from where you are
To where you belong

Yeeep, lots of Illuminati vibes with that.

Now I counter with a song/music video that reminds me of Izumo for obvious reasons.
