Can't read what is written in the green tape, maybe seimoi? But it is not a word. In greek, seismoi means earthquake but I don't think that's it.

I think they might be switching to Romanized Japanese on us-- "Seijyuji" would be one way to spell "True Cross". Don't know what the U. T. H. S. is for, though.

Thanks for the Latin!

I can't believe I had it for almost a month and forgot to check it out! LOL

Well, it's the Order's emblem, we had already broke it down before I think. So maybe it didn't catch your eye.

I forgot to check the emblem specifically. I usually check all the bonus pics first thing, but I was too hyped about those color pics of the Kyoto tour and forgot, lol. Plus, the layout of the Japanese volumes is a little different from what I'm used to. We don't have vol. 14 in the US yet, so getting that volume in particular was kind of exciting.

U. T. H. S. should be "United Township High School". It would be logical with romanized "True Cross".
And about "mori"... It reminds me about "Memento mori" (="Always remember about death"). Maybe it's a reference? "Memento mori" is actually a greeting phrase for Trappists, Roman Catholic religious order. Or maybe it's an error and I just cought the tendency to look for meaning where there is none.

I hope I'm not too late for the party
I took my time to scan the emblems from vol 1-13 in higher res I don't know, I really love these emblems
EDIT: I reuploaded the pictures and added the emblem from volume 14. The volumes 15 and 16 don't have any emblems in it (I would have loved an emblem for Lightning)

12 Izumo

13 Illuminati

14 True Cross Academy

The Illuminati emblem looks a little bit like Shura's, doesn't it?
I can't read the last letter clearly, but I think the scroll on Shura's emblem says "Ea juvens moritur", which I think means "She died young"
I don't like where this is headin'

Woah thanks for that! That's convenient for emblem analysis!

And speaking of emblem analysis

Shura, oh my God. Can somebody confirm? Does it actually say "she dies young"?
I can't believe I never noticed her emblem resemblance with the Illuminati's. I can't un-see it now.
Oh my God if that actually foreshadows something...
I liked her as a character. I don't want her to die.

The implications of this are too large for me to comprehend

Edit: Yeah, it does say " She died young." I don't like where this is heading either

Take that with a grain of salt, Shura's emblem, with the snake curling around her sword, looks alot like the emblem of pharmacy, where the snake represents immortality/eternal youth, because it sheds its old skin to reveal a new(young) one underneath. And since she has a doctor meister and the pharmacy emblem is an allegory to alchemy...

So what, that leaves Lightning's and Takara's and maybe Toudou's emblems to be revealed? (And possibly that of some lesser characters). I wonder if she'll keep putting them into the volumes until she runs out of characters or if she'll start reusing them (like Yukio's for the new vol. 15 cover) or if she'll start posting those of characters yet to be seen or move on to something else to fill the space....

Those emblems have so much implication... especially Shura's. I also didn't notice the similarity between the Illuminati emblem (I thought it was resembling the Shuriken since she is the descendant of female ninja)
Is that "Ea juvens moritur" really a death flag???

And what's with Shima's "Affliction and Omniscience"?? (Is that what it says)
Now the Pink Spider chapters came to end and it still doesn't hit me what "omniscience" has to do with him.

It has to do with Buddhism. I think in Buddhism "omniscience" doesn't mean what it means in more western definitions.

The pink lotus is also a representation of Buddha.

Thanks chinonamida! Should I call you chino?
I had some idea between the connection of Buddhism and lotus but I didn't know that Affliction and Omniscience was also from Buddhism.
Aghh so much to learn!

Sure. Most people already do.

From what I know afflictions in Buddhism are like sins in Abrahamic religions.
