Character emblems

Look at Mephisto's emplem. You can see a lot of time stuff. And an angel and a demon by the way. It seems Mephisto being king of time was proposed for a long time.

^ Hm, haven't seen that before. Has anyone seen it in the manga?

Each character has something like that. At the very front of a volume. The page with the chapter headings.

^ I never noticed that o_o That's awesome. There's a scale on Yukio's with a cross on one side and some green stuff on the other. It probably has something to do with his current problems.
The text on Mephisto's says something along the lines of "fili dei miserete xxxx" I can't read the last word, it's too small...
Koneko's got two cats and Renzou's has a sexy bunny girl.

Holy frooker, you're right!

Now, why do Rin's and Bon's emblem-thingies look so plain? Affection and omniscience wins hands-down. Shiemi's and Mephisto's look prettiest to me.
... Which is not surprising.
As if to spite this hateful world, I decided to love it.

I think this deserves its own topic.

I had never noticed them eiher. Bon's is weird... what does the writing mean?

And Rin's has a key! See, I knew they hadn't forgotten about that thing. It's gotta be somewhat important if they put it in his emblem.

Is that latin? What does it mean?

You're right! There is a little key. Now we are back to the key topic. They appear from time to time without big explanations.

Yukio's emplem has a scale, hasn't he?

It's Latin or more probably manga Latin. How can you even read it? It's so small.

"filii dei" means "sons of god" ("filius" would be "son")
"miserere" is pleading for mercy/pity ("have mercy" vocative case) I'm not sure there is a form "miserete".

These are common phrases from most popular Latin prayers (before Second Vatican Council every Catholic knew a couple of them by heart), so Katou could've not know a word in Latin and still come up with these.

^ It's probably 'miserere'. It's so small, so I wasn't certain (and I don't know Latin, so I just guessed).

I guess I could scan them from my books, but I don't have volume 9 yet.
Amaimon should have one too, as he was on the cover of volume 10 (but that isnt out in English)
