Blue Exorcist (Manga) / Re: Chapter 115 ENG

-Renzou's hair seems light in that flashback. Maybe it's just for the sake of contrast. But it'd be somewhat interesting if pink was actually his natural color. He had black hair in some other flashbacks, but this could be a dye too. Maybe that's why his father's wife left the family; maybe she's not his mother, maybe his father cheated on her. So maybe Renzou always had to dye his hair black, and when his father saw his pink hair at the start of the Kyoto Arc, he wasn't scolding him for having dyed his hair, but for having stopped dying his hair. lol
What? When was that revealed.
About the "wife leaving the family"? I don't really remember when and how often it was mentioned exactly. Also, just to be clear, they never say these two broke up or divorced, though they never said they are married either. But they say she's not there often. And we never see her being there, so... I meant "she left the family" as in, she's not living with them.

Also Renzo has a little sister, so he is far from Yaozo's last child.
Yumi has pink hair too. Just saying. x)

Wasn't Renzo talking to his mother on the phone at the beginning of chapter 15. And he complained to her about how she only cared for Ryuji and not him? Based on that it is pretty clear she is still loyal to Myoudha which I don't think would have been the case if she still wasn't with the Shima family. Also during Juzo's wedding Renzo's elder sister does ask Juzo where Mamushi and her mother were and he tells them they were in the kitchen, so she is clearly still living with them.

Also I believe Yumi's hair is dyed too because I remember there being a picture of her younger self being fed by Juzo who was holding her (along with Kinzo, the Kyoto trio and the Houjou sisters) and in that picture she was shown to have black hair like the rest. Also Renzo's elder sister doesn't have black hair but doesn't have any unnatural hair colour either so couldn't she possibly have gotten her hair colour from her mother's side.

-Takezou decides now is as good a time as any to try and joust against the literal devil. He loses.
He was actually quite successful ...
Yeah, I'd say he won more than he lost.

BTW, I always think nobody will die when falling off a cliff in the manga. Maybe there's more after this ...
I'm completely fine with Takezou being an officially dead character, but I'll just say this because I always do when this type of things happen: we didn't see the body...
If he survived, maybe the reason he never came back despite being so loyal, is because he got possessed...?

What? When was that revealed. Also Renzo has a little sister, so he is far from Yaozo's last child.
Also, given that almost all Shima siblings are shown to have black hair as their natural colour, there is nothing to show that the Shima family has demonic heritage and pink colour is not a naturally occurring hair colour as far as I know, i find that hard to believe that pink was his natural hair colour.

Okay, how was Takezo successful?
He successfully managed to save Renzo while falling off the cliff but apart from that he got one shotted by the devil and the bodies satan was possessing burned up near instantaneously due to Satan's power rather than because of anything Takezo did. And you said it yourself Satan possessed people who had a degree of authority or power, so that is probably why Satan didn't try to possess the rest of woman and children that Takezo was trying to protect.

Also, the problem with Takezo probably surviving is that it still doesn't explain why Yamantaka passed to Renzo if Takezo was still alive. If he is possessed though i just hope we don't get a repeat of the izumo rescue arc with Takezo in Tamamo's stead since Tamamo was portrayed as unreliable before and thus her sacrifice was effective, while in the Shima family it is Renzo who is portrayed as unreliable and selfish, while Takezo was always spoken and portrayed as a loyal, selfless and caring hero.

-So Koneko is the youngest, not the oldest... I thought his whole family, including his mother inevitably, died in the blue night. But if he wasn't born yet, she must have survived at least a while longer.

I always thought his mother must have died during childbirth since I believe his birthday was stated to be in January while the blue night is supposed to have happened in December.

it seems takezo died by falling off a cliff. Was hoping he would put up more of a fight to be honest.

I guess that's how the truth always a bit differ from the story. People are actually quite scared and can't fight gracefully in urgent situation, but they become hero due to saving other's lives.

He clearly had enough control to throw a baby Renzo while falling off a cliff, so I am guessing he is experienced enough to handle himself in sudden situations. I do wish though that we could see how he fought as that would given a better idea of just how skilled or unskilled he was in comparision to the other Shima brothers especially Renzo who currently is shown to be the weakest of them.

I also thought the same thing regarding Takezo possibly surviving the fall, but then how does one explain Renzo inheriting Yamantaka which shouldn't be possible without Takezo's death. Although it would be interesting if it turned out that Takezo survived the fall, got traumatized by the experience and then ran away. It would definitely be a contrast to Renzo who constantly complains about wanting to run away but hasn't as of now. Also we still haven't gotten any answer about Renzo's scar but given that it has been over 40 chapters since the izumo rescue arc and we still haven't gotten anything considerable regarding his character beyond the death flags and constant back and forth over his loyalties, I doubt if we are going to get any proper character arc for him at all.

WOW. That was a trip, folks.

Jeez, was that Koneko's dad getting the Koopa blue firebreath in the face?

Yeah, and it seems takezo died by falling off a cliff. Was hoping he would put up more of a fight to be honest. So it seems Renzo's scar has nothing to do with the blue night.

Also, did Lucifer just blow up Satan's face over being rejected by him for Yuri?

it's kinda funny  how the exwires wound up in the blue night. they're being part of history thru time travelling it's just insane. who would have thought lol. i see why konekomaru with kurikara gets involved with this one. now that satan is losing his body.
i don't get anything from the grigori tbh. im just confused as heck. is shiemi the new shemihaza? i thought the old shemihaza wasn't crystallized yet? are they 2 different things? what? despite jeremiah being shady and creepy af, i like him lol. only because he's connected to angel.

As of now only Rin and maybe konekomaru are part of history thru time travelling, the rest of the exwires are still in the present involved in their own problems.

I don't think it was ever stated or confirmed that shemihaza was not crystallised. The current grigori are only the mouthpieces of the 3 demons, I believe. We have yet to see shemihaza onscreen.

As lucy-shining-star said, it feels like we are heading towards the end. I was expecting an exciting chapter but it just went from silence before the storm to the wreckage left behind by Yukio's gifted familiars courtesy Lightning. Indra, 'the god of Lightning' and Vayu, 'Lord of Wind' might look characters from Arabian Nights but they are powerful deities with very interesting powers and depictions considering what the author has portrayed Yukio as.

Indra and powerful? Hahahaha
I guess he is the king of devas, but as someone who grew up on hindu mythology Indra is more a jerkass victim and a memetic loser. Most of the stories I have heard have him do something arrogantly stupid or atrocious, get cursed by a sage for it or beaten by an asura followed by him going crying to either Vishnu or Shiva who then have to sort his mess and restore his arrogant and prideful self back to his throne. Rinse and repeat. Although seeing him getting beaten or humiliated is always the most cathartic moment in any story.

The experiment separated Karura from Saburota.
I wonder why Katoh wanted to do that.
Can he still regenerate even without Karura?
I didn't get the DNA thing either.

I remember in the marriage arc, Tatsuma was discussing with Shima's brother about finding a way to separate Toudou from Karura. I hope that plot thread goes somewhere and it wasn't some false lead.

Okay does anybody else feel the pacing is all over the place. It hasnt even been a few days in-universe since Yukio betrayed the order and now he is betraying the illuminati. Given that i myself said that yukio should just use the illuminati to gain info and betray them at the right moment, i was expecting him to do this but not so early, and not just for a pair of guns. Also, i guess now Renzo and Yukio bonding and becoming friends over time is out of the picture. I hope i am wrong but it genuinely feels like the series is trying to jump as quickly as possible to the final arc.

Also the illuminati are really coming off as super incompetent. Only Todo seems competent and Lucifer seems to only be intimidating due to his raw power as he clearly isnt showing any degree of cleverness. Now i can actually buy the events of chapter 65-67  as i feel the illuminati really are that incompetent that they will still accept Renzo despite him being readily taken back by the order  even though he revealed himself to be a spy for the illuminati. Something that would set off red flags for any decently competent organistion that this guy cannot be trusted and that his familiar should be taken away and he should be disposed immediately.

So ... Looks like Yukio isn't the only one to have a super powerful gun  XD

And to top it off said gun doesnt have as severe a side effect as yukio's guns making it able to be used by almost anybody.

Also, it seems atleast the arc knights know about how holy water is made and armumahael's use in it, so only the lower level exorcists like yukio dont know about it.

I wonder when lucifer said he needs to see this, whether he was referring to just yukio or satan as well.

So is Renzo also getting access to see the experiment or is it just Yukio? Also as a spy, the guy should be happy for the possibility to get more valuable info instead of complaining.

I hope next chapter Izumo and the others rush to where Shiemi is first before contemplating all they have learnt. It also seems the black flames and Armumahael are becoming more and more important plotwise.

Yes, the Jump SQ poster puts their allegiance quite interestingly. For Yukio, Order is evil, he only knows what was on the drive. Lucifer made known his intentions to kill everyone, so that is evil as well. So he most probably would keep improvising his plans until he finds what he needs. His fight against Rin is something I am looking forward to but Lucifer might not want any harm coming to Rin for Satan's sake except for getting him as vessel. Maybe Satan makes his move once Yukio confronts Rin? And with Todo, it would be interesting to know where it leads. I wonder if Todo family having white hair is due to Azazel heritage. They are reputed for maintaining deepkeep.

You know, the order may have done quite a few evil things but it is nowhere near the level of evil that the illuminati is. The illuminati is basically a death cult with zero redeeming values doing the bidding of an angsty demon king who is too hung up on the world being unfair to him, while the order still cares for humanity and all the evil things it did in the first place is either being done by a rogue faction that does not share the views of the rest of the order or was done because Lucifer was threatening to self destruct and take the entire world with him. So even the evil things done by the order can mostly be blamed on the leader of the illuminati. There is no way yukio can see the order as a greater evil, especially given his family and friends are still with the order and deep inside all the hatred and jealousy he still must have some care for them.

The Todou family has white hair? I thought Saburota had black or brown hair and Homura has black or brown hair with with one yellow stripe. Even then, I don't think white hair equals Azazel ancestry as Mamushi and her sisters also have white hair and I am certain they don't have Azazel's blood in them.

Renzou has been a spy for Mephisto, Lucifer, Lightning and the man in the shadows. Double spy is an understatement. Right now, he might be the one with most information about the ongoing. It would be interesting once he returns back to his family and the Order that is if he has a chance to. There is another bit about the one who actually recruited him. Maybe we have another spy already working with Illuminati.

Renzo is still just a double spy. Mephisto and Lightning both work for the order, while the man in shadows seems to be an illuminati agent as it is confirmed that they sent him to pressure yukio to defect. Also doing one favour for lightning so that he will remove the sylph bell does not equal to being a spy for him. As of now, unless the shima family are shown to have their own motivations separate from the order, the illuminati and order are the only factions he spies for.

Also I think it is all but confirmed that Homura Todo recruited him as he already mentioned that it was a different Todou that approached him and in the flash back he stated that it was a young woman who gave him a card of the illuminati. I think the only thing that is left regarding his recruitment is whether Renzo really did join the illuminati for the shallow reason of having some fun or is there some deeper meaning behind those reasons and/or deeper motivations. Not to mention his whole "deceiving the people I love is my specialty" line which does seem to imply that he has been lying to his friends and family even before becoming a spy.

I also noticed that we see an affiliation between the brothers with the Myodha. While Rin has close connection to Suguro's family, Yukio has similar closeness with Shima's. And if the Salaryman Exorcist is any hint, Konekomaru is close to Yukio as well.

I don't think there is much of an affiliation between the brothers with the Myoudha really. Tatsuma is like a father figure to Rin thanks to his relationship with Shiro but Yukio's relationship to Shima family seems purely professional since they are for all intents the representatives of the Myoo dha sect (since if I remember correctly Tatsuma has not joined the order) in the order and Yukio's superiors so he has to report to them. Not to mention the Shima family is subordinate to the Suguro family and clearly very loyal to Tatsuma and Ryuji given how they treat Ryuuji as a more valuable family member than they ever treat Renzo who is supposed to be part of their actual family. Although I do feel Juzo and Yukio's tag team against Todou might see a repeat with Renzo and Yukio fighting against Todou in a similar fashion in a future battle. Tatsuma and the Myoo dha are still researching a way to separate Karura from Saburota so I am guessing a future conflict between the Myoo dha and Todou is inevitable.

As for the Salaryman manga, I don't think it is canon. And even in the main series, Konekomaru clearly has a much deeper bond with Rin than Yukio.

Illuminati arc is going to go on at least until we have some hint that 'all eyes would be one, no human no demon'. I mean that artificial Gehenna gate is opened enough to force bigger changes or that Mephisto is able to freeze the gate back again. Then there is Shiemihaza arc running concurrently with what is going on in KRC lab with Drac. Rin might get a hint of something important in the past that might help him control himself or fight Illuminati.

Does Rin really need any hint from the past to help fight the illuminati? The only problem in the illuminati is Lucifer and honestly if there was anything in the past that could be key in combating Lucifer, I am pretty sure Mephisto would know, and given how much he trembles at  the sight of Lucifer even now, I don't think he would waste time when it comes to teaching Rin a way to kill Lucifer.

Also wasn't there being a flashback of Yukio where Shiro told a younger him that there will come a time when he has to save his brother? Given that we have seen demon Rin now, perhaps Rin's demonic side will overpower him causing Yukio to save him from said demonic side and bring him back.(or perhaps the order will see Rin's evil demonic side and decide to execute him anyway causing Yukio to save him as this time he is no longer a part of the order and thus will have no reason to care about breaking the rules anymore). Either way, Yukio having a proper fight with his brother where both can vent their frustations with each other, and actually getting the chance to properly save him might do a great deal to resolve the many issues he has with his brother and himself.

I hope we see more internal thoughts and struggle from Rin, it would also take us to his comfort place wherever the key left him. I also wonder just what intentions Yukio has but I would like to think he will play his pseudo-Illuminati self for some time at least until we reach Romania and Vatican. Really, I just like flawed heroes, they are very engaging.

I am pretty sure yukio will stay in the illuminati for atleast a few months and it has only been a few days since he joined. I expect him and renzo to carry out atleast 1 or 2 illuminati missions before they leave. Yukio did say that as long as he was in the illuminati he was going to get what he can from them, so clearly neither he nor renzo have any real loyalty to the illuminati.

I remember once saying that Yukio should just become a double agent like renzo and get what info he wants from them and then betray them at the right moment. Wonder if yukio really decided to take that route.

Also Bon and Izumo teaming up makes this chapter 10/10 :'(. I think this is the first time since the beginning that she calls him by the name.

Not only that, if i am not wrong, she is speaking to Ryuji on a first name basis which literally nobody among the exwires dies not even Koneko, Renzo or Rin. Only Ryuji's parents and lightning refer to him by his first name and the fact that in the beginning Izumo used to be flustered over Rin calling her by her first name, this really does say things about how close Izumo and Ryuji might have or will become.

Anyway i hope Izumo expresses about her concern and  desire to save Shiemi in the next chapter and does not  remember in the last minute near the end of this arc that she has to enquire about Shiemi.

Also, Shima told Yukio that lucifer changes his body from the head down regularly. Why not change your entire body, it is not like demons cannot jump to another body and it is not like the head is immune to the effects of rapid decay that the rest of the possessed body is subject to.

Yah it's weird. You think VIZ changed it to first name to avoid confusion? They used to do it with Bleach if I remmber correctly, I guess our Japanese speaking members would have mentioned it if that was the case tho. Either that, or maybe like you said they got pretty close after Rin left, Shiemi got semi-kidnapped, and Renzo/Yukio betrayed the group. She did weirdly mention how they kept "losing" people. I ship Renzo and Izumo primarily but I really like this ship too, would love to see them fight together8)

I think that may take a seat as the second priority. Right now, she'll probably help Bon out first and then eventually they'll go after Sheimi considering how fast things are going here. This way they can have more interactions and Katou can let Sheimi actually learn something from the experience on her own rather than being saved immediately.

Man where the hell is Koneko? His plot wasn't  all thrilling and I'm sure no one would want to see a sword get fixed on panel but I still assumed he'd get few pages in.

Well todou called yukio as okumura and not yukio, so apart from removing possible honorifics i dont think Viz changed which part of the names were being used this chapter. I personally really dislike bon x izumo, but ever since the izumo rescue arc, it was becoming more and more obvious that this was the most likely izumo pairing the series was heading towards given that rin x izumo is most definitely sunk and renzou x izumo is near impossible thanks to the betrayal and renzou's lack of sufficient character growth and development.

I wouldnt mind seeing konekomaru as well but honestly i feel we need to see his character without bon in the picture as Bon almost always takes screentime from the other 2 when he is with them

Yeah, I don't think they're gonna kill Toudou so soon.
Something is definitely going to change their plans.
As anything in AnE ever went according to plan? X)
And why do you think Yukio went to the laboratory?
To get the guns probably, but why now, why not wait?

If Mephisto's acting is anything to go by, everything seems to be going as planned for him.

I think it is a bit too early for Yukio to do something rebellious now. (Although both he and Renzo most likely may at a later period rebel since neither seem really into Lucifer's stupid plan and are just in it for their own personal short term goals).

-Seeing Renzou and Yukio getting friendly is even better than I thought. Their dynamic is great.

I do hope Renzo and Yukio develop a close friendship similar to Rin & Suguro or Izumo & Shiemi while still being different due to both their tendencies to keep secrets and deceive the other. If pulled off, it might definitely be a very amusing and interesting friendship to watch.

-We now have a confirmation that the current Grigori don't know what happened during the blue night and the events that lead to it.

The Grigori or atleast Shemihaza might well be lying given Shemihaza clearly has a  relationship with lucifer and knows (or atleast his minions know) what Arthur is. Given that Lucifer's plans involve returning both worlds to nothingness and recreating them, I guessing both the king of creation Shemihaza and the king of nothingness Armumahael mighthave roles to play in his plan. Given that Armumahael is completely crystallised is there a chance that he and his powers are being exploited against his will while Shemihaza is secretly on Lucifer's side (or the opposite with Armumahael being on Lucifer's side while Shemihaza being forced against its will). Wonder if Armumahael will play a role in either Yukio's or Renzo's character arc (given its confirmed that Yamantaka is his kin)

I do not buy for a second that Todo is going to die so soon. He was portrayed as an adversary that Yukio so no way is he going to die this soon.

And why go through the effort to take izumo's aid in freeing Lightning and capturing dragulescu since i doubt she can provide more help than 3 arc knights.

Also if they prioritise apprehending dragules now, wouldnt they be too late to interrup shemihaza's ceremony and save Shiemi.

About the Shima family, those were actually training instead of violence. And he just doesn't like training instead of doesn't like to hit back. Izumo is not going to become a knight, so it's not possible she would join that kind of training.
That's still violent. Violent training. You can't escape it with pretty words.

Also I am pretty sure Kizo's constant kicking arent part of Renzo's training.
