^ That makes sense, but why would the Grigori Agency side with the Illuminati?
Unless Jeremiah took past Shemihaza's order, "Protect Lucifer" too seriously.
Or past Shemihaza had some deal/fling with Lucifer.

^Things are going down fast in that theory. Personally I wouldn't want them to go quite that fast. I want as much Ao No Exorcist as possible before the series end. X)

Also, not necessarily a good or a bad thing, but it feels like something you'd see in a video game. Fighting self-regenerating plants in an area covered with them, to get to the origin of it and return things to normal by saving the princess from her curse. I'd play that game. X)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I very long while a go, I posted this. Sadly both the twitter post and that youtube video were taken down since. I should have taken screen-shots or at least I should have written down the Japanese lyrics so people can see for themselves. Now all I can do is hope people trust me enough to believe I wouldn't lie about this. Either way... You can still enjoy my theory.

I just saw Katou posted this on her twitter a while ago.
I don't really follow the OST. So I don't know much about it.
She says that song was originally written to be Shiemi's theme, and when she writes Shiemi's character she often listen to it.

Though I couldn't help but see there's some mistakes. (I know because of the Japanese translation below...)
On line 2, it should be "far from the fight(s)" not "far from the flight".
On line 3, it should be "Everyone are way ahead of me, they're leaving me behind" instead of "They freely pass me by" (...I guess she meant to say "easily" instead of "freely").
On line 15, it should be "I'm fine, so..." instead of "I'm so fine".
On line 16, it should be "under the stormy sky" instead of "under the bad weather".
On line 18, it should be "on the riverside" or "by the river" instead of "on the river".
On line 19, it should be "please, stay by my side" instead of "so dwell on my self".
On line 20, it should be "for now and forever, no matter what happens" instead of "all the time".

So if you look at the whole song with the corrections, it looks like this:

Quote
In the middle of night
I was far from the fight

Everyone are way ahead of me
They're leaving me behind

Then I'm totally out of space and seeking my friends
Is there anyone who needs me?

I hear what you say
There's the tiniest hope
You can change yourself
If you want to

Then you find the door
We can walk from the past

I was a frog in a well

Smile like you've never done
I'm fine, so...

Then you hold me tight under the stormy sky

If you understand why
I was crying by the river
Please, stay by my side
For now and forever, no matter what happens

And you follow the light
I was far from the fight

Everyone are way ahead of me
They're leaving me behind

Then I'm totally out of space and seeking my friends
Is there anyone who needs me?

I hear what you say
There's the tiniest hope
You can change yourself
If you want to

Then you find the door
We can walk from the past

I was a frog in a well

Smile like you've never done
I'm fine, so...

Then you hold me tight under the stormy sky

If you understand why
I was crying by the river
Please, stay by my side
For now and forever, no matter what happens

There are lines that seems to refer to events that already happened, but there are other lines that doesn't seem to refer to anything that happened so far, and therefore we can conclude that they may refer to things that will happen in the future.

The first time I heard/read that song, one of the first things I thought about is "Who is 'you'?".

When I wrote the first post, it was around chapter 69, it was way before chapter 93 and 98.

Now here is my theory, if "you hold me tight under the stormy sky" refers to chapter 93 and "you follow the light" refers to chapter 98, then "you" is referring to Yukio.

Then this part:
"I hear what you say
There's the tiniest hope
You can change yourself
If you want to
Then you find the door
We can walk from the past"
It could mean Shiemi will be the one to convince Yukio to come back to their side.

Finally, this part:
"If you understand why
I was crying by the river
Please, stay by my side
For now and forever, no matter what happens"
From now on I'll be looking out for that river. X)

You know, the line "Is there anyone who needs me?" really makes me sad.  :'(
That being said, yes Shiemi. Everyone needs you, especially Yukio.

Thanks for the feedback! I admit, what I wrote does go fast, but I was only writing the main things that happen. I definitely have other ideas for what happens in between the events I wrote down, but I can only write so much before I'm burned out lol. I want the series to last as long as possible too.

I like your theory about that song! Maybe if the anime gets greenlit, Shiemi can have her theme song. I'll be watching out for that river too. :) Btw, if your theory is true, this is a very Yukishi ish song. Not that I'm complaining ;)

Reviving an old thread!

I've been thinking about how this ceremony will play out for Shiemi and I have an idea/theory.
So, I think this ceremony will either be a way for her to retrieve her memories, or simply be affirmed as the heir to the Grigori by the original Shemihaza.

Blah, blah, incert bad thing happening and/or realization that causes her to lose control, push everyone out and take over the garden with her plants (or if it's really bad, the whole Vatican). Almost like when Satan took it over himself.

Living now in seclusion, her body starts to decay rapidly after releasing so much power, and is on the verge of death. I like to think of this as a parallel to chap 3, where she secludes herself after her grandmothers's death, and her health is in danger because of a plant demon.

The Order is scrambling to maintain a grip on the situation, but they are hopelessly deadlocked as they can't penetrate the wall of plants Shiemi has built up. With no way to reach her, the Order decides to just simply let her rot to her death, much to Izumo's and Suguro's protests.

Cue the Illuminati learning of the situation at the Vatican. Lucifer is intrigued by this development (either for research purposes or he has some connection to Shiemi), and he decides that he'll send Yukio to investigate, since he's known Shiemi the longest and still owes the Illuminati for an arm and shiny new guns. Yukio agrees, as he knew he'd have to pay them back, but mostly is concerned with Shiemi's well being. Rin also gets wind of this, and goes directly to save Shiemi.

Later, Rin reaches the wall of plants and decides to do what he did before in chap 3. Burn her garden so Shiemi comes out and he can reason with her. However, this doesn't work, as Shiemi can no longer move due to necrosis. She is also in a lot of pain and can't recongize that Rin is trying to help her, as her ability to reason is fading away. As Rin starts to burn down her plants, she goes on the offensive and yeets him with vines, knocking him unconscious and severely damaging his body.

Yukio finally makes it to the barrier and sees that Rin was injured by Shiemi's plants. He's shocked by this, as it was Rin who saved her the first time in chap 3 but this time Rin had failed. He sees this as very dangerous, but also an opportunity to save her from herself and to make up for what he did in chap 93.

I have other ideas, but for now I'll wait until we get more chapters. I don't wanna get too far ahead of myself!

@earthforge Honestly, I would think if anything turned Yukio over to the Illuminati's side, it would be either for power and/or that the Order does something unforgivable in his eyes and would want to destroy everything they stand for.

Possibly having to do with a certain blonde tamer comes to mind...

I hope that the reason why they're so close is explained in the next few chapters. My bet is that she worked with Lucifer to give him the research.
I still think that the Shemihaza in the past is Shiemi's grandma and the mom took over once Shiemi was born, which is only a few months past the Blue Night.

Oh man, if their relationship is a parallel to the Yuri Satan relationship, then Shiemi's grandmother is actually her mom, and her mom is her sister.
Which would make Shiemi's mother's talk with Izumo all the more meaningful in that they're both older sisters looking out for their little sister.

@earthforge Damn did it really show Lucifer contemplating something more precious than a body and Shemihaza's rep was in it too?? I didn't see the translation.  :'(
Maybe my crazy theory that Lucifer and Shemihaza 's rep had a relationship and produced Shiemi from it wasn't so crazy after all...
As a side note, could you imagine how OP Shiemi would be? If that were true? Light and creation...Rin's screwed lol

^That's not impossible, but after recent chapters, we know Goro's body also ended up breaking at some point, so the chances that he really was referring to the things he possesses are great.

New theory: Shiemi's grandmother is actually her mother and Shiemi's mother is actually her sister. Because not only Shiemi's memories were wiped out, but she was also reverted to a child. The guy from the Shemihaza clan who I forgot the name and who pretended to know her and that she should know him if it weren't for her lost memories, that guy talked about her memories and past self as if it was really important, I don't think it's just some memories of when she was between 0 and 2 years old or so...

Oh, that's an interesting theory. I was kinda thinking the same thing, except that those "memories" she lost were from the result of being experimented on, or some other traumatic experience. Her fear of people and her timidness is what I think gives that away. She either repressed them as a child, or a demon who can alter memories came and changed them.

As why her family would let that happen, I suspect that she has some sort of power that could make a more powerful elixir, or maybe they were threatened by someone if they didn't do it. But then something went terribly wrong and they needed to make sure she wouldn't remember it. Maybe that's why the Grigori guy (Jeremiah) said there was "no rush" to remember.

Maybe, if only she had nowhere else to turn. I could see Yukio inviting her in to protect her.

As for Shemihaza and Lucifer, I agree something is up between them but don't know exactly what.

Since this is probably Shiemi's mother(Shemihaza's eyes even look identical to Shiemi's) talking to Lucifer and calming him down, maybe this is foreshadowing that Lucifer is perhaps Shiemi's father? They do look alike, with the blonde hair and green eyes. Maybe since she has healing powers, she healed him to the point they could start a relationship and conceive? There's also that poem facets found which dealt with Lucifer having an affair with a princess..hmmm.
Crazy theory I know.   ;D

I have a theory that the Order, in order to fight against all  the demons from the Gehenna Gate and the Illuminati, will try to awaken Shiemi's powers through means of pain and suffering. Remember how the Illuminati tried to get a hold of the Nine Tails power? They did it by subjecting Tamamo to pain worse than death.

Maybe that's where the memories that Shiemi doesn't remember come in. Maybe they already tried awakening her before, but something happened where they couldn't complete it so it left Shiemi sickly and timid and she couldn't remember anything since she was just a child. It was perhaps so traumatic that her mind blocked it out.

I really get the feeling that the those Grigori people/Order will disgust me in the future.

I'll place a bet that the "memories" Shiemi hasn't remembered yet are from a traumatic experience as a child with those smiling people that are connected to the Grigori. It would explain why Shiemi can't remember anything about them, as it was prehaps so traumatic that her mind suppressed it in order to protect her. Maybe it also is the reason for her timid personality and low self esteem. Even in chapter 82, she expresses the thought that "People are scary", and it would explain why she never liked to be around crowds of people as a child.

I am dead certain that the Grigori who is collecting Shiemi will be Shemihaza. The designs on their clothes are the same as on Shemihaza's door (the middle one on this page). So going forwards, I'm just going to call the smiling blonde brigade instead Shemihaza's entourage.

On that note, since Shiemi cries about always being too late, I assume that her mom told her that she wouldn't have much time before she had to fulfill whatever Moriyama family duty.

My current guess is that the entourage are all descendants of Shemihaza, and that Shiemi and her mom have the strongest blood and must serve as a direct representative.

I think that one of the guys told Shiemi that they were picking her up due to the chaos in the world and were going to protect her in the Vatican, so I think her mom ordered them to get her.

Still, there's Lightning's trial, and with her mom possibly being the traitor and Shiemi at the Vatican, she would have nowhere to run. There's something about those smiling faces that doesn't sit right with me..

So this is essentially a theory I posted a while ago, but I think it bears some relevance again because of chapter 99.5.

So, I theorized that Shiemi may be saved by Yukio from jail/ the Order due to her mother being branded the traitor and Shiemi as a result would be imprisoned/experimented on/executed.

Remember how Shura's emblem had a skull and the Latin phase, "She dies young."? Well, it was a hint as to what her future would hold. On Shiemi's emblem, there's a crown of thorns in the middle of it. I have the sinking feeling that that smiling doctor we see in this chapter may end up possibly experimenting on her or even crucifying her(if we take the meaning of the crown of thorns literally). Shiemi to me it seemed acted with her goodbye to Izumo like she was thankful for everything but that she was never going to see her again. If Yukio learned that Shiemi was going to die, I think that he'd definitely go to rescue her.

Oh, man. I'm getting Gedouin vibes from that doctor that took Shiemi. All smiley and stuff? Not good.

About her memories..  I think that maybe there was a stressful situation when she was a kid, her powers went out of control, and they had to repress her memories so she wouldn't put everyone in danger?
