Takara, the Puppet Boy
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:27:20 PM »
Who is he/it? What makes him so strong? What is he doing in the school? What does Mephisto and Shura know about him?

Post your theories here.

Ok, so my theory is that the person called Takara is actually the puppet possessed by a demon. The boy is not a ventriloquist, it's the puppet who's talking. Like a Chuckie doll. The boy is its puppet, like a zombie, in order to make the demon look more... natural. I imagine that when the boy finally opens his eyes they will be in some way not human. Why I think it's a good guess:

- ventriloquism is lame
- foul mouth doesn't suit the cute boy
- the boy has never, ever been pictured in a panel without the puppet, which means, it could be the puppet who's the main character
- the puppet wears a school tie
- they often look like they were communicating

PS: I hope it doesn't count as double posting.

I believe I've seen the puppet without the boy somewhere.

Can't remember where though...

YES. THIS. Absolutely this. I love this theory. It's even better than the simple "the boy is a demon". I would get chills if this were actually the case with the kid. If that was true, what do you think would happen to him if/when he is exorcised? I imagine the kid's body will disintegrate.

Thanks :D I'd patch him up and reuse. Or pick a busty chick to carry it around instead.

But I think it's likely that Takara will join Rin's group and make it funnier and more deadly to their enemies. There must be a reason why it attends the exorcist school and looks like even Shura doesn't suspect him of spying.

^ I think she does suspect him of spying. She definitely doesn't think he's a normal student.

And remember how she said she wasn't the only one sent out to keep an eye on whatever Mephisto was hiding.

Ok, now I'm lost, anime Shura said there's another spy but I don't remember when the manga Shura did it...

In chapter 14 Shura says "But you've got other spies here, don't you?" to Arthur (Or "I wasn't they only spy dispatched, ammarite?" in the fan translation on MF).

In the german version she says "Well, I thought you would send more agents except me." That sounds she is the only one...

Nevertheless, I really like Anya's theory.

So she thinks Arthur has another spy in the school (or not) and she asked Mephisto why he put Takara in the class together with Rin... Takara can't possibly be a spy for both Arthur and Mephisto, can he? So I think the puppet boy was send by Mephisto for whatever reason and unless Shura gets old and paranoid, there is yet another spy nearby. Is it the one Mephisto mentioned while watching Yukio going blue eye on Toudou?

Looks like the number of spies per square meter is ridiculously high in Rin's class.

^ She asked why he allowed Takara in Rin's class. That could also mean "You know he's a spy for the Vatican, so why didn't you stop him?"

Then again, putting two spies from the same organisation in the same class would be rather ridiculous. Unless they already didn't trust Shura.

Oh, you're right, she said "Me and that Takara... you let us into the academy", so she put herself together with Takara as the group Mephisto should know better to not allow into his business. Hmm.

But in this translation it sounds like she doesn't know exactly who Takara is. Also, judging from what she told Arthur, she wasn't told that there's another spy apart from her and she figured it herself. She didn't tell Arthur that the other spy from the Order is Takara. She didn't tell Mephisto that that Takara person is a spy. So it doesn't mean that Takara and a spy are the same person but it would nicely reduce number of suspicious individuals.

But who would Takara even be a spy for? I think it's unlikely he's there to keep an eye on Rin. Mephisto can do that whenever he wants.

^ Satan, maybe? Or one of Rin's insane siblings? Satan may be not stupid enough to completely trust Mephisto, second man in Gehenna's hierarchy, living in Assiah, enjoying it and leading an academy for exorcist.

On the other hand, feeling invincible suits him.

Either way, I believe Takara is a demon and if he's a spy (and not a demon who changed sides because of some personal reason like Night did) then he's been probably send by a demon party.
